About Conflict & Courage
Conflict & Courage is an independent military history publication dedicated to sharing the stories of military history — from the great battles and campaigns that shaped nations, to the personal stories of courage and sacrifice that deserve to be remembered.
We cover a wide range of topics including battles and campaigns, weapons and technology, life on the home front, British military history, and the personal stories of those who served. Our aim is to make history accessible, engaging, and respectful of those who lived it.
Editorial Standards
Popular history is full of embellished retellings, and stories of individual heroism suffer from this more than most. Our standard is that the documented record comes first: where an article concerns a decorated serviceman or a specific engagement, we work from primary references such as official award citations, unit histories, and the collections of national archives and museums — and we link to those sources so readers can check them directly. Where historians dispute a detail, we say so rather than picking the better story.
Corrections
If you spot an error — a wrong date, a misplaced battle, a detail that doesn't match the record — we want to know, and we will correct the article. Email contact@conflictandcourage.com with the article link and the correction. Many of our readers are veterans, family members of those who served, and lifelong students of military history; their corrections make the site better.

The images used on this site are sourced from public domain archives and collections — including the U.S. National Archives, the Naval History and Heritage Command, and Wikimedia Commons. These photographs and illustrations are free from known copyright restrictions, and we credit the collection they come from in the image caption wherever possible.
